The visit of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani to China, which started on Wednesday, will catapult the relations to a new phase of joint and constructive cooperation, Ambassador of Qatar to China HE Dr Sultan bin Salmeen al Mansouri has said.
The ambassador said the Amir will discuss in China ways to develop bilateral relations and how to take the ties to a stage of strategic partnership.
Mansouri said there is harmony between both the leaderships and they agree on common views. There will be a push for Qatari investments in China, as well as a discussion on economic issues related to clean energy, gas and other fields. They will also discuss important and urgent issues in the region, he added.
The ambassador said the visit will be a historic event similar to the one in 2014, which established a comprehensive strategic relation between Qatar and China. The current visit will be complementary, that will enhance the cooperation between the two countries, he added.
Mansouri said the Amir will meet the Chinese leadership to discuss the next phase of the strategic partnership, where the agenda includes a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Besides the meeting with Xi that will include a round of talks there will be a meeting with the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang during which they will discuss the bilateral relations.
