The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani’s upcoming visit to China this week will further strengthen the relationship between the two countries, Ambassador of China to Qatar HE Li Chen has said.
“The visit aims to strengthen the ties between the two countries and to boost bilateral cooperation in several fields,” the ambassador said. The two sides will also discuss several regional and international issues of common concern, he added.
Several high-ranking Chinese officials such as the Premier of the State Council (Prime Minister) and the Head of the People’s Congress of China will meet the Amir.
A Qatari-Chinese business forum will also be held on the sidelines of the official visit, where Qatari and Chinese businessmen will discuss and seek opportunities of investment in both countries, he added.
This is the second visit by the Amir to China after the successful trip in 2014, and is expected to have a further positive impact on the strategic partnership between the two countries.
“There are many investment opportunities in Qatar, especially after the recent investment laws that have created a good investment environment, which the Chinese investors must get to know,” Chen said.
The Chinese envoy said several agreements will be signed during the visit on economic and political issues.
“The Qatari-Chinese ties are getting stronger and this is reflected in the recent actions taken by the two countries. Qatari citizens are now exempted from entry visa to China and vice versa, which will play a big role in boosting commerce and tourism,” he said.
China and Qatar recently celebrated 30 years of establishing the diplomatic relations.
