His Excellency Salah bin Ghanem al Ali, the Minister of Culture and Sports, termed the Dakar Rally win by Nasser bin Saleh al Attiyah a proud moment for Qatar and he expressed hopes for more sporting victories for the nation as the 2019 unfolds.
Commenting after welcoming Attiyah at the Hamad International Airport, the minister said, “Indeed, it is a proud moment for all of us. Motorsports is a big sport in Qatar. Nasser won the Dakar Rally for the third time. It is one of the most difficult rallies and it is amazing that he did it for third time. “He is still young and hopefully, he will win many more Dakar Rally titles in future.”
He also added that Attiyah is an icon of the Arab world. “Nasser is an icon for everybody not only in Qatar and beyond it. He has given a big gift to Qatar in the beginning of the year and hopefully the 2019 will bring more such victories for the country,” he added.
