The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani has given directions to allocate $50 million to support Syrian refugees and displaced persons who are suffering due to adverse humanitarian conditions and cold weather.
Qatar has extended the grant in the form of an urgent relief aid package and various development programmes through Qatar Fund for Development to the Syrian refugees in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, in addition to the displaced within Syria.
The grant will be distributed as follows: $20 million to support the displaced within Syria, $10 million for programmes supporting refugees in each of
Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon that add up to a total of $30 million in the three countries.
From the grant allocated for Syrian refugees in Lebanon, $5 million will be given to support the relief campaign in Arsal, which
is supervised by Qatar Charity.
Qatar Fund for Development, in coordination with its partners such as White Helmets and related United Nations agencies, will be responsible for spending the funds on direct humanitarian relief programmes to alleviate the effects of the cold winter, in addition to development programmes in the education and health services.
