Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani met Chairman of the African Union (AU) Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat in Doha on Monday. The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation, as well as matters of common concern.
Following the meeting, the FM and the AU Commission Chairman witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding through which Qatar would provide $20 million as a restricted grant for victims of irregular migration and human trafficking. The grant will be used through microfinance programmes to assist in the reintegration of returnees in their home countries. Deputy Director General for Development Projects at Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) Misfer bin Hamad al Shahwani and the AU Social Affairs Commissioner Amira al Fadel signed the memorandum. (QNA)
