THE Cultural Village Foundation – Katara, in cooperation with the Embassy of Poland in Qatar, opened a photo exhibition titled ‘The Green City’ within the climate summit efforts.
Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti, general manager of Katara inaugurated the exhibition along with the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Qatar HE Janusz Janke.
Sulaiti praised this creative initiative by the Embassy of Poland and stressed that it is one of the many cultural cooperation between Qatar and Poland.
The exhibition features 21 photographs showcasing the greenery in Doha and the natural landscapes that reflect the efforts of the government to contribute to combating climate change.
Janke said: “Poland hosted the climate summit earlier this month, and since Qatar is a great stakeholder in this climate change protection action, we decided to hold this event in Qatar”.
He added that they had thought of an educational and cultural event to mark the climate summit and to raise awareness about climate change among the youth, so they started with this initiative.
“The best way to promote the necessity to stop climate change was through modern art and we have chosen photography because it is available with everyone through smart phones, especially the students”, he explained.
The majority of the participants in the exhibition are local schools and universities students in Qatar who submitted more than 100 photos of which 21 were selected. (TNN)
