Jakarta AT LEAST 10 people have died after drinking contaminated alcohol in Indonesia's Yogyakarta province, police said on Monday. The victims fell ill last week after drinking arak, a distilled alcoholic beverage, believed to have been mixed with other substances in two parts of the province, local police chief Hadi Prabowo said. Police arrested two people for selling the tainted drinks, he said. Dozens of Indonesians die every year after consuming home-brewed drinks that are often adulterated with a variety of toxic substances to increase their potency. (DPA)
