The fourth edition of the Student Leadership Conference began in Doha on Saturday under the patronage of HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad al Thani.
The two-day 'Taqadam' conference, the first of its kind in Qatar, brings together students from different Gulf states' universities and Arab and Islamic countries to discuss ways of developing leadership skills among young people and serving them in the society and the nation.
The conference also seeks to support Qatar National Vision 2030 and its pillars related to social and human development.
QU Vice-President for Students Affairs Dr Khalid al Khanji said QU aims to create a dynamic and interactive environment that focuses on developing students' leadership skills through the provision of various applied training courses in the field of leadership, which contributes to empowering youth at the local, national, regional and international levels.
He added that the objective of the conference is to provide an excellent opportunity for communication between students from universities in Qatar and other countries such as Oman, Kuwait, Sudan, Jordan, Pakistan and others.
Dr Khanji said the conference focuses on the issues of leadership and interpersonal skills, which are among the pillars of Qatar Vision 2030. It also provides a positive interactive environment among the participants and encourages them to face all challenges and experiences that stimulate creativity, independent thinking, constructive initiatives and self-reliance to build a bright future.
The conference includes many activities and workshops where experts from Qatar and abroad will lecture on the development of leadership skills and secrets, creative thinking, leadership personality and the art of leadership of the Prophet peace be upon him and other related areas.
