Advisory Council holds meet
The Advisory Council on Monday discussed the report of the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee on a draft law on the control on tobacco and its derivatives. The council, which met under the chairmanship of Speaker of Advisory Council HE Mohammed bin Mubarak al Khulaifi, decided to submit its recommendations to the cabinet. (QNA)

Awqaf receives 2 new mosques
The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) received two new mosques in Hazm Al Markhiya and South Khalifa this month. The new mosque at Hazm Al Markhiya can accommodate 735 worshippers. Besides a residence for imam, it has a Quran memorisation centre. The mosque in South Khalifa can accommodate 448 worshippers in addition to the residence of imam and muezzin. (QNA)

GCC Legislative Councils' meet starts in Kuwait
The 19th meeting of the general secretaries of GCC parliaments, national assemblies and advisory councils began in Kuwait on Monday. Qatar is taking part in the meeting. Its delegation is headed by Advisory Council's Secretary-General HE Fahad bin Mubarak al Khayareen. In his opening speech, Kuwait National Assembly Speaker Marzouq al Ghanim affirmed the importance of 'parliamentary diplomacy' as an effective tool in resolving conflicts. The meeting will discuss the concept of 'parliamentary diplomacy' and its role in serving the interests of the GCC states. (QNA)
