QATAR'S National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) in collaboration with Bahrain National Institution for Human Rights (BNIHR) organised a three-day training course on promotion and protection of human rights.
Qatar's Ambassador to Bahrain HE Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Saud al Thani attended the inauguration of the training course.
During the inauguration of the training session, NHRC Secretary-General Maryam bint Abdullah al Attiyah stressed the need for establishing national institutions committed to protecting human rights.
She noted that with growing awareness, the issues of human rights and fundamental freedoms have become the main subjects at all international, regional and national conferences.
Attiyah thanked officials of the BNIHR for their keenness and strenuous efforts to continue constructive partnership with the NHRC.
For his part, Farid Ghazi, BNIHR member and head of Committee on Economic Affairs, said that the session comes in order to facilitate partnership amongst local, regional and international human rights institutions.
