QATAR'S premier shopping destination Mall of Qatar has lined-up a slew of events to attract visitors during the Eid Al Adha vacation expected to begin from August 19, a top official of the mall has said.
Talking to Qatar Tribune on the sidelines of an event, Mall of Qatar Chief Executive Officer Stuart Elder said that five events have been especially planned to attract both Qatari residents and foreigners to the mall during the upcoming Eid holidays.
"We will have four shows of SpongeBob SquarePants every day. Spirit the Horse will be another show that will be displayed throughout the vacation period. Then we will have shows by Al Rayan TV. QTA shopping festival and back to school activity by the Ministry of Education will be other attractions," Elder said.
The main aim of these events, Elder said, is to give people reason to come to the mall.
"We want to drive traffic by making the mall an exciting place for the visitors," he said.
The number of footfalls will increase as more people are expected to travel to Qatar this summer, he said, adding the country is the next happening destination after the Fifa World Cup was recently over in Russia.
"People want to see the next host country of the Fifa World Cup. A lot of credit goes to the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) for promoting the brand of Qatar throughout the Fifa World Cup in Russia. We want to capitalise on this brand image of Qatar," he said.
"We are building relationships with Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), Hamad International Airport (HIA) and Qatar Airways to promote Mall of Qatar as one of the main destinations for tourists in Qatar," he said.
Mall of Qatar is especially working to capitalise on the exceptional growth in cruise tourism Qatar has witnessed in the recent past, he said, adding relationships with such governmental agencies are instrumental in promoting the mall among the visitors.
"We have a fantastic loyal customer base. Almost 90 percent of our customers are Qatari residents. We want more foreigners to come to the mall," he said.
Following the huge success and enthusiasm witnessed over Mall of Qatar's Bollywood show back in April, the Mall of Qatar brings the rich, colourful and vibrant culture of India to its Ooredoo stage with the Indian Beats Show.
This exclusive production, combining music, dance, costumes and props, showcases the authentic Punjabi and Lezim Folk Dance with 20 professional artists from August 6 to 18 with daily shows at 12:30pm, 5:30pm and 8pm.
"At Mall of Qatar, we consistently strive to deliver amazing, exciting and free entertainment to thrill our customers. We love being able to bring international acts to Qatar, and we know that our customers will enjoy the colour and vibrancy of the Indian Beats Show," Elder said.
