THE Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Dr Mohamed bin Abdul Wahed al Hammadi honoured 28 high-achieving students who obtained outstanding results in the Secondary School Certificate Examinations for the academic year 2017-2018 at the ministry's headquarters in Doha on Wednesday.
The honouring ceremony was attended by the Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Fawzia al Khater and senior officials of the ministry, parents, school directors and teachers.
The students were presented certificates of recognition and also valuable financial prizes on the occasion.
The minister congratulated the students and said that the statistics show that the number of high-achievers is increasing year after year with more than 1,500 students scoring above 90 percent this year, which is equivalent to 25 percent of all students who sat for the examinations.
Hammadi noted that the students' excellence is an indicator of the quality of policies and educational initiatives implemented to advance the academic capabilities and outcomes at different educational levels.
In conclusion, the minister urged the students to strive towards becoming influential and productive members in their social and professional environment in order to serve their country and humanity.
