IN an effort to inculcate innovative ideas and nurture scientific spirit among students, Qatar University (QU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) in Doha on Tuesday.
The three-year agreement signed by Kahramaa President Essa bin Hilal al Kuwari and Qatar University President Dr Hassan bin Rashid al Derham will see both the entities cooperate on scientific, innovative, administrative and technical research.
Speaking on the occasion, Kuwari said:"The programme adopted and promoted jointly by Qatar University and Kahramaa will create a positive work environment paving way for overall development in various sectors of the country. Working in partnerships with scientific expertise will increase creativity and help tackle challenges more effectively to realise the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030."
According to the agreement, Qatar University will organise workshops, seminars and conferences as well as launch research projects in cooperation with Kahramaa.
Dr Derham said:"The MoU offers both sides an opportunity to develop their business in innovative and creative ways. We encourage our students to adopt innovative and creative approaches towards both academic research and extracurricular activities and spread this important culture among our academic and administrative staff in line with the University's 2018-2023 strategy."
The event was attended by QU students as well as a number of officials of the University and Kahramaa.
