Qatar Charity, in partnership with Pakistan Welfare Forum (PWF), raised a donation of QR1.69 million during the exclusive fundraising by the Pakistani community at Regency Hall recently.
The event was presided over by Fareed Khalil Al Siddieqy, Head of Admin Support Division, Qatar Charity. Besides Pakistan embassy officials, A number of professionals, businessmen and philanthropists from the Pakistan community were present. The donations announced will be utilised for the educational and welfare activities of destitute Pakistanis in Qatar.
Speaking on the occasion, Siddieqy hailed the partnership between QC and PWF and informed the participants that QC is working with various communities in Qatar since long and have established a special centre to take care of deserving and destitute individuals and families."Qatar Charity is also arranging various other activities for the communities every year including sports, health and culture," he said. Every year QC organises a special project during Ramadan called 'Barahat Aljaleyat' for each community offering Iftar-cum-briefing on the importance of Ramadan.
Siddieqy hoped that it will be a beginning of new and long-term relationship between QC and PWF aiming at jointly carrying out welfare projects including education and support for deserving families of the Pakistani community in Qatar.
PWF President Ahmad Hussain appreciated QC for their tremendous support and cooperation in becoming partner of PWF in carrying out various initiatives that would provide great opportunities to those who value social responsibility and pay back to the society to uplift the deprived segments of the communities through education. He also outlined a comprehensive PWF Community Development Programme under which Out of School Students would be identified, groomed and transferred to regular schools and ultimately transformed into an asset for the society by equipping them with education and skills to earn a respectable life, he said. He especially thanked Education Above All (EAA) which has accepted and wholeheartedly supported PWF's endeavour of education for deserving students to help eradicating child illiteracy amongst the Pakistani community in Qatar.
PWF's Founder Member Mohammed Idrees Anwar gave an inspirational speech and recited various verses of Holy Quran and sayings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) for giving special care to the needy through Zakat, Sadaqa and encouraged the participants to be generous enough to become PWF members and help the destitute families of Pakistani community in Qatar. He said PWF has been engaging with the community consistently with the patronage of the Pakistan embassy and cooperation of QC.
