Berlin: Conspicuous doping tests of several footballers from Russia's provisional World Cup squad have not been adequately followed up, according to a German television report on Sunday. Public broadcaster ARD said in a report on its Sportschau programme and a documentary broadcast on Sunday that Russian officials are suspected of covering up suspicious doping findings from a 2014 raid by the World Anti-Doping Agency WADA.
Thje 155 seized doping samples included tests after matches in the Russian league. Suspicious samples were covered up by the Moscow control laboratory, the report said.
The former head of the Moscow laboratory, Grigory Rodchenkov, the key whistleblower in investigations into Russian doping in sport, told ARD that instructions came directly from the then sports minister, Vitaly Mutko.
