Indian expatriate women have launched a new socio-charitable organisation in Qatar called Kerala Women's Initiatives Qatar (KWIQ) which bands together like-minded individuals from the social media circuit.
A brainchild of Liji Rathish, the forum aims to bring together people who share common ideas on the social media and work for the empowerment of women.
"People who are connected on social media can realise many ideas with little effort for the benefit of a large number of people who need help and moral support. KWIQ targets people with common ideas and will implement projects for the benefit of women," Liji said.
Members of the informal committee of KWIQ include Sareena Ahmed, Anju Anand, Shahanas Shaji, Najla Nahas and Bini Vinod.
The forum will be visiting hospitals frequently to offer moral support to lonely patients.
"Even though Indian expatriates have a number of socio-cultural organisations with different visions and missions, a large section of expatriates are not aware about the activities of these fora. Exploring the potential of the social media, we are planning to identify these people and bring them closer to the organisations that can be of help to them," Liji added.
