Hundreds of tearful tiny tots of Birla Public School made a beeline with their soft toys and laid them at the base of a gun mounted on the open stage in front of the whole school. Students stood in silence watching the children appealing to the world leadership to refrain from war and grant them the freedom to live a peaceful childhood.
This act was a frame from a series of pageants that the school's art department organised as part of sending a message to the world that peace is desperately needed.
At the start of the pageant, the world is shown as a pristine place with peace and harmony, existing in the lap of nature. The scene changes dramatically by man's greed for more and more wealth which results in war and devastation.
The disruption in peace has been felt over the history of mankind and has reverberated in the hearts of men across centuries.
Students and staff left multi-coloured thumb prints on a canvas conveying the message that different though we are as human beings, we are united as mankind and so, we must live in peace.
A long winding procession of children proclaiming world peace circumnavigated the school, sending a message that Birla students demand to be heard and peace is their birth right.
