QATAR Postal Services Company (Qatar Post) has been recognised by Universal Postal Union's (UPU) Global Monitoring System (GMS) as the Best in Class Quality Performance for Standard Mail for 2017.
With its 192 member countries, the UPU is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players. It helps to ensure a truly universal network of up-to-date products and services.
Qatar recorded the highest score of 95.83 percent out of 76 countries surveyed to top the annual ranking of the UPU quality monitoring system. Qatar is also the only country from the Middle East in the top-ten ranking.
Togo ranked second with 94.65 percent while Hong Kong was third with 94.46 percent. Singapore was the tenth-ranked country with 89.95 percent.
The result showed that Qatar improved significantly from the 56.98 percent scored in 2015, which is an indication that the rebranding project of Qatar Post is yielding commendable result.
The Global Monitoring System is a state-of-the-art measurement system managed by the UPU International Bureau.
External panelists to the Post exchange test items for the participating countries.
The test items, containing a radio frequency identification (RFID) transponder, are read by RFID antennae installed at operational facilities where the postal traffic is received and processed. This process generates the main portion of information required to determine the quality of service.
A reporting system called GMS Statistical System for Analysis and Reports (GMS STAR) has been put into place for the provision of the above information.
Speaking about the ranking, Qatar Post's Head of Quality Management Jaber al Marri said,"The recognition by UPU's Global Monitoring System of Qatar Post is a further testimony of the great work the postal service has been doing over the years. Qatar Post is committed to delivering quality services to the people and we are committed to our mantra of 'Modern Life Delivered'. This recognition will further spur us in continuing to improve to innovate and bring greater services to everyone."
