The Ministry of Public Health confirmed that all Kinder branded chocolate products available in the local market are safe, conforming to the standard and specifications enforced in the State of Qatar, and fit for human consumption.
The Ministry’s confirmation is based on the results of laboratory analysis of all 51 samples that were taken from the local market for Kinder Chocolates originating from Germany, India, Italy, Poland, Belgium, UK and France.
The Ministry explained that although the relevant notification relates to one kind of the brand which is Kinder Surprise originating from Belgium, as a precautionary measure, the Ministry of Public Health has withdrawn samples from all types of the product displayed in Qatar, whether they were imported by the company’s agent (main quantities) or by other importers in limited quantities.
The Ministry of Public Health also directed the release of the seized quantities, which were withdrawn from market, except for the origin of Belgium, where it was directed not to offer it in sales outlets as an additional precaution.
On the other hand, no reports of poisoning cases have been received in Qatar related to the notifications on Kinder Surprise chocolate.
As the competent authority for food safety in Qatar, the Ministry of Public Health affirms that it takes all available means to protect the health and safety of the consumer.
