Qatar on Thursday reported 155 new COVID-19 cases -- 132 among community and 23 among travellers, according to the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).

Also, 113 people recovered from the virus during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases recovered in Qatar to 240159.

As per the COVID-19 vaccination programme, a total of 4,946,060 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the programme. As many as 9,199 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours. With this 85.2 percent of the total population have now fully vaccinated with two doses.

The MoPH said in recent weeks the combined impact of COVID-19 restrictions and increasing vaccination rates, and the overwhelming support of the community, has resulted in a consistent reduction in the number of new daily infections in the country.

However, it is still important to be cautious as the second wave is not yet over and there are still two highly contagious and highly virulent strains of the virus that are actively circulating in the community.

Phase Four of the Gradual Lifting of Restrictions began on 3 October 2021 and is part of the four-phase plan to gradually lift COVID-19 restrictions in Qatar.

For now, it is important that people, including those who are vaccinated, continue to wear a mask as advised and maintain social distancing.
