The Ministry of Public Health has permanently shut down Qatar’s largest COVID-19 vaccination centre, after it succeeded in playing its role in providing COVID-19 vaccines to workers in the business and industry sectors.
More than 1.6 million doses of vaccines have been administered through the Qatar Vaccination Centre for Business and Industry Sector. Located near Asian Town in Mesaimeer, it had more than 300 stations and the capacity to administer more than 25,000 doses a day.
The facility, one of the largest in the world, was the result of a unique collaboration between the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Health Care Corporation and Qatar Charity, with support from the Ministry of Interior and ConocoPhillips-Qatar.
Senior Consultant Emergency Medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation and lead for the Qatar Vaccination Centre for Business and Industry Sector Dr Khalid Abdulnoor said his team was proud of the key role the facility played in vaccinating Qatar's population.
“This centre played a pivotal role in supporting the safe roll-out of Qatar's phased plan to lift COVID-19 restrictions by ensuring that service workers had access to the vaccine and were protected,” he said.
“We are proud to have been able to vaccinate so many key industry workers during this period and to help the community get back to normal.”
