Qatar’s Cabinet on Wednesday approved a draft decree defining the electoral districts of the Shura Council and their respective regions, ahead of the elections slated for October.
The Cabinet has also taken necessary measures to issue draft laws on Shura Council election system law and the Shura Council.
Besides, the Cabinet has also taken the following decisions:
Third - Approval of the following draft decisions of the Minister of Interior:
1- Nominate the head and members of the election committees for the Shura Council elections.
2- Forming a nominees committee and its work system and controls.
3- Forming a voters committee and its system and controls.
4- Determining the sources of financing spending on election campaigns and the controls and procedures for controlling it.
Fourth - Approval of:
A- Draft decision of the Minister of Municipality and Environment on the executive regulations for Law No. 24 of 2006 promulgating the Law (Regulation) on Agricultural Fertilizers and Soil Conditioners in GCC Countries.
B- Draft decision of the Minister of Municipality and Environment regarding the types of fertilizers and agricultural soil conditioners allowed, their specifications, conditions and procedures for their use and circulation.
Fifth - Approval of the proposal to renew the term of membership of the committee to coordinate search and rescue mechanisms in civil aviation.
Sixth - Take the necessary measures to ratify:
1- An agreement on the promotion and protection of mutual investments between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
2- An economic, commercial and technical cooperation agreement between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
Seventh - Approval of:
1- A draft memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs in the State of Qatar and the Presidency of Religious Affairs in the Republic of Turkey for cooperation in the field of endowments and Islamic affairs.
2- A draft friendship and cooperation agreement between the municipality of Doha in the State of Qatar and the municipality of Lima in the Republic of Peru.
Eighth - The Cabinet reviewed the annual report for the years 2019/2020 of the Standing Committee for rescue and relief work and humanitarian assistance in the affected areas of sisterly and friendly countries and took the appropriate decision in this regard.
The decisions were made the regular weekly meeting of the Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Council listened to the explanation given by Minister of Public Health HE Dr Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari, on the latest developments to limit the spread of COVID-19. The Cabinet stressed the continued implementation of precautionary measures.
