Almost 45 percent of Qatar's adult population have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, the Ministry of Public Health said on Sunday.
More than 1,603,913 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered since the beginning of the National Vaccination programme in Qatar in January. While 86 percent of people aged over 60 have received at least one dose, the figures stands at 82.4 percent and 80.7 percent for people aged over 70 and 80 respectively.
Qatar started its biggest vaccination programme against COVID-19 on December 23 and started inoculating people in the priority group including— healthcare workers, the elderly and people with chronic diseases. The age groups keep on going down. Currently, the age group being vaccinated is for those who are over 50 years old.
However, those interested to get vaccinated even if their age group has not been reached can register on TAWTHEEQ or National Authentication System (NAS).
