Qatar will open a new COVID-19 vaccination centre in Doha’s Industrial Area on Monday, bringing the number of specialised inoculation facilities so far in the country to four.
Minister of Public Health HE Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari on Sunday visited the new centre located at the former Medical Commission headquarters in Industrial Area.
“This centre will provide the first and second doses of the vaccines to the priority groups according to the national standards,” HE Dr Kuwari said.
“The opening of the centre will enable us to continue expanding the national programme for vaccination against COVID-19, through which more than 1.079 million doses have been given so far.”
The vaccination centre will operate six days a week from 7am to 7pm and will receive only individuals who have been invited to get vaccination from the priority groups— people of 40 years of age and over regardless of their health conditions, and people with moderate chronic conditions.
Dr Khaled Abdel Nour, Senior Consultant Emergency Medicine at HMC and Commander of the Vaccination Centre in the Industrial Area, said, “I would like to thank all of our partners who have participated in the preparations over the past few weeks for their support. This centre is equipped with 120 vaccination stations to ensure its ability to provide the vaccine to large numbers of people every day.”
Dr Nour added, "Only people who have invitations will be allowed to enter the vaccination center and no one will be received without a prior appointment.”
Individuals coming to vaccination must bring their ID card, health card or passport and show the “green” status on Qatar’s COVID-19 contact-tracing smartphone app Ehteraz.
The vaccination process will take approximately 30 minutes from the time of arrival to the centre, and it includes a medical observation period during which the medical teams follow up the condition of the vaccine recipient to ensure that there are no signs of side effects after receiving the vaccine.
COVID-19 vaccination centre in Industrial Area has become the fourth specialised vaccination centre after Qatar National Convention Centre and the drive-through centres in Lusail and Al Wakrah. Qatar is also administering the vaccine through the primary health care centres as well.
