Practising real estate brokerage without license is a crime in Qatar and will be met with imprisonment and fine for citizens, and deportation for non-Qataris, a top official of the Ministry of Justice has warn.
As per the real estate brokerage law, the profession must be carried out in Qatar only after obtaining necessary licenses, Khaled Hassan Al Mehshadi, the Director of the Real Estate Brokerage Department at the ministry, was quoted as saying by Al Raya Arabic daily.
Qatar recently started training and licensing Qatari real estate brokers, with the first batch taking oath on October 25, 2020. Several batches have successfully taken oath since then. 
Mehshadi said as many as 500 people have applied to obtain licenses.  
The real estate brokerage law was prepared to keep pace with the aspirations of dealers in the real estate sector, and therefore it was taken into consideration the public interest, and conditions were set for the practice of the profession, the most important of which is that the broker is of Qatari nationality, has full eligibility, has good conduct, and passes training courses and tests that are set for the owners of the profession. 
He said that in order to facilitate the citizens wishing to practice the profession, brokers and offices that are currently operating, a registration page has been launched through the official website of the ministry, through which all applications are received.
