Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has been awarded the US Department of Defence Medal for Distinguished Public Service. It is one of the highest honours granted by the United States to a private citizen, politician, non-career federal employee, or a foreign national, who has rendered exceptionally distinguished service of significance to the US Department of Defence.
His Excellency Ambassador Robert O'Brien, the US National Security Adviser, handed the medal to His Excellency Sheikh Meshaal bin Hamad Al Thani, the Ambassador of Qatar to the US.

 

The US Department of Defense affirmed that awarding this high honor to His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs comes in appreciation of his distinguished diplomatic efforts to enhance relations between the State of Qatar and the United States and his commitment to cooperation and cooperation with the United States across a range of fields.
The US Department of Defense said that the support of His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for the United States as a major ally of the State of Qatar has created new opportunities for partnership.
The US Department of Defense commended the role of His Excellency in achieving peace in Afghanistan and emphasized that he played a major role in supporting and advancing peace efforts in Afghanistan, especially his diplomatic leadership, which for decades has played an essential role in achieving the greatest progress towards peace in Afghanistan, including The signing of the agreement between the United States and the Taliban on the twenty-ninth of February of 2020, as well as the launch of the Afghan peace process on the twelfth of last September.
The US Department of Defense confirmed that His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs has worked tirelessly to promote stability and prosperity in the region, through his efforts to resolve the Gulf dispute.
The Ministry of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service is the highest honor bestowed by the Minister of Defense to national figures, political and military figures in foreign governments, and the medal was approved and approved in 1947 in order to appreciate the exceptionally distinguished service of importance to the Ministry of Defense as a whole or the distinguished service of exceptional importance.
This medal is conferred in appreciation of the distinguished and exceptional services and the impressive accomplishments made by the concerned persons who deserve appreciation and praise for their performance. It is also conferred on the great sacrifices made by the personalities that they receive in the service of the nation, and as a result of the great and public responsibility that these personalities have undertaken during their performance of their positions.
The awarding of the medal constitutes an acknowledgment by the US Department of Defense of the extent of the personalities ’achievements and contributions that qualify them to receive this appreciation.
In the past, this medal was awarded to former US Presidents: Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and other prominent personalities.
