The lower age limit to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in the first phase of Qatar's inoculation campaign has been brought down from 65 to 60, the Ministry of Public Health announced on Sunday.
"All residents and citizens aged 60 years and above are eligible to receive the vaccine," the ministry said in a statement.
Qatar began its vaccination campaign on December 23 and in the first phase, vaccines are prioritised for three key population groups — the elderly, people with multiple chronic conditions, and key healthcare workers with repeated exposure to COVID-19. The age threshold for the elderly has now been lowered to 60.
Citizens and residents within these priority groups will be contacted by text messages and telephone calls from a PHCC health professional to arrange their vaccination appointment.
