Qatar Airways on Thursday said it has begun rerouting some flights through the Saudi Arabian airspace after a land, air and sea embargo on Qatar was lifted on Monday.
The first scheduled flight to fly through the Saudi airspace is QR1365 flight, which left Doha at 8:45 pm on Thursday from Doha for Johannesburg.
The agreement to lift the Qatar blockade came on the eve of the 41st Gulf Cooperation Council Summit, which was held in Al Ula in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. At the summit, Qatar and countries that imposed the embargo on it — Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt — signed a deal to lift the blockade and restore full diplomatic trade ties.
