In implementation of the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of the Philippines today delivered urgent relief aid from the Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD) via an air bridge from the Qatari Armed Forces to the Philippine Red Cross to support the victims of Typhoon Vamco.
The aid delivery ceremony was attended by HE President of the Philippine Red Cross Society Senator Richard Gordon, and HE Qatar's Ambassador to the Philippines Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al Maliki.
The aid included more than 40 tons of food, shelter materials, tents, water and sanitation units, generators, rescue boats, and various other materials.
HE Senator Richard Gordon expressed his thanks to the State of Qatar for its humanitarian efforts, considering the State of Qatar a fundamental and strategic partner of the Philippines in this field, and praised the projects and contributions provided by the State of Qatar to the Philippines during the past period.
The urgent humanitarian aid that arrived at Manila airport today comes within the framework of the State of Qatar's extended aid to help friends in the Republic of the Philippines, and its commitment to alleviate suffering and strengthen international efforts in the field of emergency aid.
The Qatari humanitarian aid program is implemented in cooperation and partnership between Qatar Charity and the Qatar Red Crescent Society, and the materials will be distributed on the ground urgently to those affected in cooperation and coordination between Qatari Red Crescent and the Philippine Red Cross.
