Qatar's Maritime Customs Administration has foiled yet another attempt to smuggle hashish through the Ruwais Port.

In a tweet posted on Monday, the Qatar Customs said the contraband was hidden inside metal boxes within refrigerated fruit containers, which when opened contained 26 packages with 26.10 kilograms of hashish in them.
Similar attempts were made to smuggle hashish through the Ruwais Port earlier this month.

The first attempt was thwarted in the first week of September, when customs officials had seized 45.5 kilograms of hashish from the spare tyre of a refrigerated truck at the Ruwais Port.

The contraband was hidden inside 45 bags. The X-ray images of the truck released by the customs authorities show dense materials inside the spare tyre.
The second attempt was made on September 8. That time, contraband was was hidden inside refrigerated fruit containers, which when opened contained 26 packages with 26.15 kilograms of hashish in them.
On Thursday, the Air Freight division of the General Directorate of Customs in Qatar has foiled an attempt to smuggle large quantities of banned captagon drug pills into Qatar. The contraband was concealed in a shipment of tablets. The customs authorities seized a total of 34,990 pills.
Captagon was first manufactured in 1961 as an alternative to amphetamine and methamphetamine used at the time to treat narcolepsy, fatigue, and the behavioral disorder "minimal brain dysfunction".
It is now being commonly used by fighters to help them stay awake for days and numb their senses. This gives them stamina for long battles and allowing them to kill with abandon, according to media reports.
Hasish  or hash is the most potent and concentrated form of cannabis. Hash contains very high levels of THC or tetrahydrocannabinol — the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis. The THC level in hash is usually much higher than marijuana, which may generally have a potency of 10 to 20 percent. Meanwhile, the THC levels in hashish can range from 20 percent to 60 percent. This means that it will take much less hashish than marijuana to achieve psychoactive effects.
