Qatar affirmed that it attaches great importance to the right to education as a priority within the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030, and its reliance on an educational system that aims to provide quality education for all.
This came in the statement of Qatar delivered by the Third Secretary of the permanent delegation of the State of Qatar in Geneva Abdullah Behzad, during the interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the right to education before the Human Rights Council at its 50th session, within the framework of item (3) of the council's agenda.
Behzad pointed out that, within the framework of the great progress witnessed by the field of science and information technology in the State of Qatar, the trend was towards employing digital technology to serve the educational process, as the Ministry of Education and Higher Education adopted the e-learning strategy with the aim of providing an advanced technological environment that serves learners in an effective and innovative manner. The Ministry also launched the e-learning program, an initiative that aims to develop the educational process and provide electronic services based on integrated digital technology, with the aim of improving the quality of teaching and learning.
He highlighted that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, during the implementation of the preventive and precautionary measures related to (Covid-19) pandemic, as part of its keenness to continue the educational process, launched the distance education system, and five electronic platforms were allocated, including the e-learning portal. It also provided electronic devices for students and teachers to ensure the continuity of the study process.
