The quarantine period for people testing positive for COVID-19 in Qatar is 10 days, a senior health official has said. And it starts from the day the swab was collected and not from when the result came out, HMC Medical Director of Hamad Medical Corporation's Communicable Disease Center Dr Muna Al Maslamani was quoted as saying by NadeebQa.
Dr Maslamani had earlier said infected people with mild to moderate symptoms who do not require medical care can safely isolate at home for 10 days following their positive test.
She said such people should spend the first five days of quarantine within their own room at home and avoid contact with family members and other people.
During the next half, they can leave their room but should wear a mask at all times when they are around other people.
Home isolating patients needing support can contact the Centralized Home Isolation Service 24 hours a day by calling 16000.
In case of for COVID-19-positive health workers, the quarantine period is seven days and not 10 in the event that the person does not show any symptoms, the Hamad Medical Corporation has said.
