His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Tuesday ordered a reshuffle of 13 Cabinet positions. Two more women were allocated Cabinet berths and a new ministry to deal with climate change was created in the reshuffle.
The Amiri Order No. 4 of 2021 saw 13 appointments and a rearrangement of several ministerial portfolios.
HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari has been appointed as the Minister of Finance. He had been holding the position in an acting capacity since May this year.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, which was also held by Kuwari, is now led by HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani.
HE Jassim bin Saif bin Ahmed Al Sulaiti has been appointed to lead the Ministry of Transport, which was formerly the Ministry of Transport and Communication. The ‘Communication’ portfolio is now part of a new ministry — the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. It is headed by HE Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Mannai.
HE Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, who was previously the Minister of Sports and Culture, is now the Minister of Sports and Youth. HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani will lead the Ministry of Culture.
HE Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie is the Minister of Municipality as ‘Environment’ has been hived off it and added to a new ministry formed to deal with climate change — the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. It will be headed by HE Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani.
HE Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghanem, who was previously the Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces, has been appointed the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.
While HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi has been named the Minister of Education and Higher Education, HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad will take up the role of the Minister of Social Development and Family.
HE Dr Ali bin Saeed bin Smaikh Al Marri, who has served as the Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar, is now the Minister of Labour.
HE Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Yousef Al Sulaiti has been named as the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs with a Cabinet rank.
Interior, Defence, Foreign, Energy and Justice portfolios remain unchanged.
