The largest and deepest cave in Qatar has been highlighted by CNN Arabic, describing its as the most exciting natural sites in Qatar.
The "Dahl Al Misfir" cave is located in the Rawdat Rashid area, 40 kilometres from Doha.
"This cave, which is about 150 metres deep, shimmers with a phosphorous luster characterized by an unparalleled view that resembles moonlight," the report said.
According to the Visit Qatar website, Dahl Al Misfir Cave was formed 325 to 500,000 years ago during the Middle Pleistocene.
The lens of the photographer, residing in Qatar, Amir Abdul Razzaq, documented the scene inside the Dahl Al-Misfer Cave during his last visit.
Abdul Razzaq explained to arabic.cnn.com that the Dahl Al Misfir Cave is one of the geological wonders in the landscape of Qatar, pointing out that the cave, which is located in the middle of the desert terrain, will satisfy people looking for adventure and exploration.
He says once you enter the cave through its relatively small opening, and adjust to its darkness, you will see a large space that opens and extends below, and you can see amazing rock formations, nesting birds, and traces of small mammals.
Abdul Razzaq indicates that the visible bottom is about 100 meters deep, and consists of different layers of rocks and sediments.
From his point of view, the cave provides a unique experience from the moment you enter, especially during the hot summer time, as you can immediately feel the change in temperature, and the more you go down, the more you feel the vastness of the cave, he said.
Since Qatar is considered a small country, the Indian photographer wanted to highlight this natural site, which is considered the largest and deepest cave in Qatar accessible according to the “Visit Qatar” website, so during his documentation he tried to show the size of the cave.
Abdul Razzaq believes that the site is worth a visit, as the experience is an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and it is recommended to use a map application or GPS system to determine the location and drive a four-wheel drive to reach.
Abdul Razzaq advises visiting the cave during the day, and wearing appropriate shoes to walk long distances, as the cave consists of rocks that may be slippery. It is also recommended to bring a light source in case a person wants to enter the depth of the cave.
It is worth mentioning that the Indian photographer highlights through his photographic work the local scene in Qatar.
