Qatar's Cabinet on Wednesday approved a draft decision that proposes to roll out part-time jobs in government entities in a move primarily meant to provide greater work-life balance to women.
Under this system, the number of working hours per week is reduced by half, with no less than half the number of working hours per day. Part-time work shall be at the request of the employee and with the approval of the government entity in accordance with the provisions of this resolution.
The approval was given at the weekly cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani.
This part-time system comes within the framework of Qatar's plans to maintain a strong and stable family that enjoys support and care, and to improve job efficiency, to provide more flexible options for Qatari employees to take into account their circumstances and needs.
This system provides Qatari women with greater opportunities to achieve a balance between the needs and requirements of caring for her family and children on the one hand, and work requirements on the other.
