Indian students in Qatar who are planning to apply for colleges in India can benefit from a Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) being offered by its foreign ministry, the Embassy of India in Doha has said.
Every year, the ministry offers 150 scholarships to children of Indian parents (Person of Indian Origin as well as Non-Resident of India) working in 18 ECR countries, including Qatar.
This scholarship is meant for children of expatriate parents whose gross monthly income is not more than $4,000 (QR14,564). 
Under the Scholarship Scheme, the Government of India would bear 75% of the total Institutional Economic Cost (IEC) subject to a maximum of $4,000.  The following institutions are covered under the Scheme : -
a) NITs, IITs, Schools of Planning and Architecture
b) ‘A’ Grade institutions accredited by NAAC and recognised by UGC
c) Central Universities of India 
d) Other institutions covered under DASA Scheme
Only fresh year students (1st year) shall be eligible to get the scholarship.  All eligible candidates may apply for the scholarship accordingly under the Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children scheme.

The 18 ECR countries are Afghanistan, Bahrain, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
