His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Thursday issued an Amiri Order (No 1 of 2021) relieving Ali Shareef Al Emadi of the position of the Minister of Finance.
The order entrusted Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari with the additional duties of the minister of finance. It is effective from the date of issue and is to be published in the official gazette.
Earlier in the day, Qatar's Attorney General ordered the arrest of Ali Shareef Al Emadi for crimes related to civil service involving "damage to public money, abuse of function and abuse of power".
The attorney general also ordered expanded investigations into the crimes.
