A hygiene and hospitality firm in Qatar has been booked for housing workers in facilities that did not meet the standards prescribed by the country’s labour laws.
The action against the Al-Khaisa-based company came after inspectors of the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs found compliance failures during an inspection.
The ministry called on companies to adhere to the requirements and specifications of suitable housing for workers, in order to avoid being subjected to penalties that reach imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months, and to a fine of not less than two thousand riyals and not exceeding one hundred thousand riyals, or one of these two penalties, according to Decree-Law No. 18 of 2020 amending some provisions of the Labour Law promulgated by Law No. 14 of 2004.
