The Bangladeshi food-delivery agent, who became a social media sensation in Qatar after photos of him helping a man on wheelchair cross a road went viral, has been felicitated by Bangladesh’s Embassy in Doha.
Ambassador HE Mohammed Jashim Uddin presented a crest to Muhammed Yasin on Monday morning at the embassy building.
The ambassador “appreciated the exemplary good deed” of Mohammad Yasin by handing over the crest, a statement from the embassy said.
Yasin was on his way to make a delivery, when he saw a man on wheelchair trying to cross the road.
“I couldn't hesitate to help him. I parked my motorbike on the roadside and asked him where he would like to go. He pointed towards the end of the road and I helped him cross the road,” Yasin has said in a video interview, after the incident.
In the meeting with the ambassador, Yasin said he helped the man spontaneously out of his civic sense, without expecting any reward.
Uddin urged the expatriate Bangladeshi community to draw inspiration from the example set by Yasin and help project a positive image of Bangladesh in Qatar.
