As the pleasant winter season gradually sets in, many of the beaches that were once unexplored and less-visited in the northern coast of Qatar are becoming favourite destination for local winter tourists.
Qatar is blessed with a long coastal belt with a number of beautiful beaches in the northern region. Many of the beaches, particularly the ones in the north of Ras Laffan Industrial City, are ideal for family gatherings due to their serene atmosphere and shallow coastline water.

As the government relaxed the COVID-19 restrictions and opened public beaches, the popular beaches like Al Wakra, Al Mesiaeed and Dukhan are getting crowded with people who venture out to enjoy cool evening breeze.
In an effort to avoid the crowds at the popular beaches, many of people are opting for the northern beaches to relish nature while maintaining social distanc.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune, a long time expatriate said, "Even though, I have heard about some beautiful unexplored beaches in the northern region of Qatar, I haven't had a visit to any of them before now. With the new road networks that cut short the travelling time to most of these beaches, people have started visiting the beaches. Honestly, beaches in the northern part are clean and ideal for children because of their shallow water level."
According to tourism experts, emergence of new resorts and guest houses, as well as new road networks have also attracted large number of local tourists to the area.

Sales officer of a travel and tour operator in Doha said, "We are getting lot of enquiries about beaches and resorts in the northern part of the country. The resorts and guest houses that emerge in the region will be an asset for booming tourism sector of the country."
A member of a European family said many of the beaches in the north are yet to be fully explored by many.
