The Ministry of Public Health on Wednesday published a public awareness infographic on long-COVID and its common symptoms.
Long-COVID, also referred to as post-COVID-19 syndrome, is a term used to describe COVID-19 symptoms that continue to affect people for many weeks or months after contracting the virus, the ministry said in the infographic,
The common symptoms of Long-COVID includes:
- Extreme tiredness
- Shortness of breath
- Joint pain
- Depression and anxiety
- Chest pain or tightness
- Insomnia

Who is at risk?
The ministry added that though most people recover quickly from COVID-19, anyone can experience the ongoing symptoms of Long-COVID. Due to their increased vulnerability and often weakened immune systems, the elderly are more susceptible to long-term complications due to COVID-19.

What can be done to prevent Long-COVID?
The best form of prevention is to follow all steps to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19: wear a mask, maintain physical distance, avoid large gatherings, and regular hand washing.
It is also important that people who experience signs and symptoms of COVID-19 do not delay seeking help. The sooner medical teams can begin treating the symptoms, the higher the chance of avoiding complications.
