Temperature in Abu Samra, located almost a 100 kilometres north-east of Doha and is home to Qatar's only land border with Saudi Arabia, has plunged to as low as 4 degree Celsius, the lowest-recorded temperature so far this winter. The Qatar Meteorology Department has warned that another cold spell was likely to sweep over the country over the weekend.
“It is expected that the country will be affected by a cold spell from Wednesday night as the minimum temperatures decrease significantly especially during the weekend with low temperatures ranging between 8-17 degrees Celsius and reaching less than that in some southern and external areas of the country,” the Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) said in a statement.
The maximum temperature will range between 22 -26 degrees Celsius, it added.
“Cold weather over country and temperature now ranging between 11-19 degrees Celsius, while apparent temperature is less than that by about 2-3 degrees Celsius,” it added.
