A gymnasium at The Gate Mall in West Bay has been shut for 15 days for violating COVID-19 precautionary measures mandated by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
OxFitness LAB will stay closed for in initial 15-day period, which can be extended following a review, the ministry said in a tweet on Sunday.
After COVID-19 infections were confirmed among a few gym-goers in Qatar, the ministry recently updated its instructions for gradually lifting of COVID-19 restrictions in gyms across the country.
As per the revised instructions, gyms are required to cap the number of clients they can train at the same time at 30 percent of their capacities.
A green colour code on Ehteraz app, masks and body temperature within the normal range are prerequisites to grant entry to customers, according to the ministry.
Group exercises are prohibited and toilets and changing rooms must not be allowed to be used by the clients.
“Any violation of the provisions exposes the perpetrators to legal procedures and accountability. The Ministry affirms that the success of each stage of the comprehensive plan for the gradual lifting of restrictions depends on the commitment of all,” the ministry had said in a statement.
