THE Emir of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani took part in the opening, 'closed' and closing sessions of the 38th Summit of the Supreme Council of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which took place in Al-Tahrir Hall at Bayan Palace in Kuwait on Tuesday.
All the three sessions were attended by the official delegation accompanying HH the Emir, which included HH Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani, the Personal Representative of HH the Emir, and a number of their excellencies the ministers.
Later, HH the Emir attended the dinner banquet hosted by the Emir of Kuwait at Bayan Palace in honour of the heads of delegations taking part in the 38th GCC session.
HH the Emir arrived in Kuwait, earlier in the day, to lead the State of Qatar's delegation to the 38th session of the GCC's Supreme Council meeting. HH the Emir and the accompanying delegation were received at Kuwait International Airport by Emir of State of Kuwait HH Sheikh Sabah al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah.
Also receiving HH the Emir were Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali al Ghanim, Deputy Chief of the Kuwait National Guard Sheikh Mishal al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah, Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber al Mubarak al Hamad al Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al Khaled al Hamad al Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Sheikh Mohammad al Khaled al Hamad al Sabah, GCC Secretary-General Dr Abdullatif al Zayani, a number of their excellencies sheikhs and ministers, Qatar's Ambassador to Kuwait HE Hamad bin Ali al Henzab, Kuwait's Ambassador to Qatar HE Hafeez Mohammed al Ajmi, members of the Qatari Embassy and a number of senior civilian and military officials.
Upon his arrival, HH the Emir extended his and the Qatari people's sincere greetings to the Emir of Kuwait and the Kuwaiti people, wishing him health and wellbeing and his country progress and prosperity under his wise leadership.
HH the Emir said he hopes the summit, which, he added, takes place amid critical conditions in the march of the GCC and amid regional challenges, would result in outcomes that contribute to maintaining security and stability of the region as well as achieving the aspirations of the Gulf people towards deepening cooperation and solidarity and reaching the desired goals of the council.
HH the Emir prayed that they would succeed to achieve the good for the Gulf, Arab and Muslim people. A mission of honour led by Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled al Jarrah al Sabah was formed to accompany HH the Emir.
