In the colours of Mohammed bin Fahad A H Al Attiya, the Mohammed Ghazali-trained Nijinski Al Maury (FR) (Amer x Nemosie Al Maury) scored an impressive victory in the feature to land the Purebred Arabian Handicap and the Muaither Cup on sand under jockey Giuseppe Cultraro at the Al Rayyan Racecourse on Wednesday.
Nijinski Al Maury cruised into the lead up the straight and drew clear in the closing stages to win by two and a half lengths. Baker De Saularie (FR) (Kerbella), owned and trained by Osama Omer E Al-Dafea and ridden by Carlos Henrique, finished second while Sun Amer (FR) (Amer), owned by Khalid Mohammed S Al Harami, trained by Bader Al Balushi and ridden by Al Moatasem Al Balushi, was third.
Mohammed Ali Al Athba, Member of the Central Municipal Council, crowned the winners of the Muaither Cup race meeting.
Earlier in Race 7 of the day, the Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalid bin Nasser Al Thani-owned and Gassim Ghazali trained Saoud Al Sulaimi (QA) (T M Fred Texas x Hasna) claimed the Local Purebred Arabian Conditions, 3YO+ over 1200m under jockey Alberto Sanna.
