North Indians' Association (NIA) organised Deepotsava 2017 to celebrate Diwali. NIA President Sudhir Gupta welcomed chief guest Indian Ambassador to Qatar HE P Kumran and Indian Embassy First Secretary, Hemant Diwvedi, Hassan Chougle, ICC President Milan Arun, sponsors and NIA members.
Around 300 people attended the event and witnessed the energetic performances of comedian Jr Akshay Kumar, Vikalp Mehta and Pinky (Peacock) Maidasani. Vikalp made a power-packed entry with his dance number from Akshay Kumar's hit movie. He also performed a dance medley with NIA members' children Aashna Behl, Shourya Modi, Mohak Vaswani, Avisha Sharma, Sneha Chandnani and Juhi Gabra. Pinky, along with dhol player Jeetu made everyone dance to their tunes till midnight. Almost everyone were on the dance floor till midnight.
NIA children Akshin Gupta, Ahaan Gupta and Shoubhit also gave a performance as well as Vandana Shrivastava and Shalini Sinha who performed a clasical dance.
Family games and a raffle draw sponsored by Al Mufta was held coordinated by Kuldeep Bahl, Shivani Mishra, Monica Modi, Renu Malhotra, Chandra Gururani with support from Saroj Mehta and Jatin Arora. Adminstrative activities were handled by Harish Kanjani, Mukesh Singh, Anil Mehta, Durgesh Gupta and Abhijeet Sarkar.
