Khobar (Saudi Arabia)

The Qatar U23 team lost their first match against Australia 1-2 at the Prince Saud bin Jalawi Sports City Stadium in Khobar, Saudi Arabia, as part of the team’s preparations for the AFC U23 Asian Cup finals, which will be hosted by Qatar next year and serve as the qualifying event for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The top three teams at the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024 will represent the AFC at the Paris 2024 Olympics, while the fourth-place team will play in an AFC-CAF play-off match for the final qualification spot.

Goals from Lachlan Brook (27 min) and Mohamed Toure (40 min) gave Australia a 2-0 lead. Mustafa Al Sayed scored Qatar’s lone goal in stoppage time of the first half.

Qatar will next take on Jordan on November 21st, while Australia will play against hosts Saudi Arabia at the same venue.
