DOHA: The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning of thundershowers and adverse weather conditions in both inshore and offshore areas until 6pm on Friday.

In its daily weather report, the department forecasts inshore weather to be partly cloudy to cloudy with moderate to heavy rain. Thunderstorms are expected at times, accompanied by blowing dust, leading to poor horizontal visibility. The warning emphasizes the potential for thundery conditions associated with strong winds in addition to reduced visibility.

Offshore conditions are predicted to be partly cloudy to cloudy with intermittent moderate to heavy rain. Similar to the inshore forecast, thunderstorms are anticipated, and the warning extends to potential poor horizontal visibility and strong winds, contributing to a high sea state.

The inshore wind is forecasted to be southwesterly to northwesterly at speeds ranging from 8 to 18 knots, reaching up to 40 knots in areas experiencing thunderstorms. Offshore winds are expected to be variable, primarily northwesterly, at speeds of 8 to 18 knots, gusting up to 45 knots during thunderstorms.

Visibility is expected to be reduced to 4 to 8 kilometers or less at times, posing challenges for navigation and travel.

Sea conditions inshore are projected to range from 1 to 4 feet, rising to 5 feet initially during thundery rain. Offshore, sea state is forecasted to be between 2 to 5 feet, with a significant rise to 14 feet during thunderstorms.

Residents and marine operators are advised to exercise caution and stay updated on the latest weather developments as the Department of Meteorology continues to monitor and provide updates on the evolving weather conditions.
