DOHA: The Meteorology Department has issued a cautionary weather report for the inshore and offshore areas of Doha, warning residents and sailors of potential thundershowers, strong winds, and poor visibility until 6pm on Thursday.

According to the department's daily weather report, the inshore weather is expected to be cloudy with moderate to heavy rain across most areas. As the day progresses, the conditions may escalate to thundery weather associated with blowing dust at certain locations. The report emphasizes the likelihood of thundery rain accompanied by strong winds and poor horizontal visibility.

Offshore conditions mirror those inshore, with cloudy weather and the possibility of moderate to heavy rain. The report underscores the potential for thundery rain offshore, cautioning about poor horizontal visibility and the presence of strong winds, along with high sea conditions.

In terms of wind patterns, the inshore wind is anticipated to be mainly northeasterly at speeds ranging from 8 to 18 knots, reaching up to 40 knots in areas experiencing thundery rain. Offshore, the wind is expected to vary between northeasterly and southeasterly, ranging from 10 to 20 knots and gusting up to 45 knots during thundery rain.

The forecasted visibility inshore is predicted to be between 3 to 8 km or less during thundery rain, while offshore visibility is expected to be even lower at 2 to 7 km or less during thundery rain.

Sea conditions inshore are anticipated to range from 2 to 4 ft, rising to 5 ft during thundery rain. Offshore, the sea state is expected to be more turbulent, ranging from 3 to 6 ft and rising to 14 ft during thundery rain.

Residents and those planning maritime activities are advised to stay informed about the evolving weather conditions, exercise caution, and adhere to safety guidelines provided by the relevant authorities.
