DOHA: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said that it will implement in phases the application of fees and charges for the medical treatment services at Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) and Hamad Medical Corporation in accordance with the decisions of the Minister of MoPH Nos 28 and 29 of 2023.

In a statement on Wednesday, MoPH outlined that the new fees will be applied in the current first phase on visitors of Qatar, confirming that the new fees will not be imposed on the residents of Qatar until they are covered by the mandatory health insurance system, as per application phases.

The ministry stressed that such a step comes within the framework of the commitment of MoPH and institutions of the public health sector to promoting health care services and mitigating pressure on public health facilities, adding that the provision of health care services will continue for citizens and other exempted segments in public health facilities free-of-charge based on the valid laws and decisions.

The fees and charges for the services provided by PHCC and HMC have been determined in accordance with the costs of services in the two corporations, while the health insurance system has been applied to visitors of the country since last February. The health insurance document of visitors covers emergency and trauma hospitals with the provision of other insurance packages for them through which they can further obtain additional insurance coverage.

In addition, visitors can obtain an international insurance document to take advantage of the insurance coverage in Qatar, provided that the international document shall comply with the approval standards determined by MoPH, one of these key standards is that the document shall cover the whole duration of their stay in Qatar.
